Book Tours: Promo Post for Space Drifters

Book Excerpt

The unconscious Jasette hovered upright in suspended animation. The containment field made her blue and silver hair whip slowly about her face as if she were under water. An opaque blue cylinder of glowing energy surrounded her, giving off a slight hum and the faintest hint of cinnamon. I like cinnamon. Whenever I can manage it, I opt for the cinnamon upgrade.

With her eyes closed she reminded me of the beautiful fembots that line the cavernous castle hallways of Mar Mar the Unthinkable. Hundreds of gorgeous robots that stand motionless like statues until someone dares to upset the delicate temperament of Mar Mar. It isn’t difficult. He might have one bad grape and fly off in a rage, summoning a wave of vicious fembots into the royal kitchens to obliterate the cooking staff.

“Is she okay?” Nelvan stood next to me, his sad, puppy eyes looking up at Jasette.

“Who cares?” I glared down at him. “She almost terminated us and you’re wondering if she’s okay?”

Nelvan lowered his head, a look of shame on his face. I was starting to like having him around. It gave me a quick, cheap sense of power.

“Her hair is rather magnificent, wouldn’t you say?” Blix looked on from the containment grid control panel nearby. His fingers were delicately working the touch screen controls as if creating symphonies on a synthboard.

“Sure, whatever. How’s the power level?” I took a sip of velrys and braced myself for the news.

“Sixty four percent.” Blix said. “Perhaps the energy cells were drained from her little escapade.”

“Yeah, well, she’ll pay.” I scowled up at her. “Computer, what’ya got from the uniweb on our prisoner?”

“Conflicting results, Captain,” the computer said. “The initial scans showed her as a peace ambassador from the Klebborse sector.”

I huffed out a laugh. “Peace ambassador?”

“Subsequent scans uncovered additional profiles including: Star Ranger, Interstellar pastry chef, Lounge singer, advanced weapons specialist, freelance feral cat juggler, remote colony grief counselor—” The computer said.

“Hold it. How many professions did you find?” I said.

“Two thousand, three hundred and forty seven.”

I looked over at Blix with raised eyebrows.

“Interesting.” Blix tapped on his scaled lips with a finger. “A bit of unraveling will be required for this puzzle.”

I took a step closer to the containment field and studied her a moment. Her black power suit, sleek and custom fitted as it was, obviously held some powerful little computerized secrets. Plus, her beauty was disarming, which made for a lethal combination. I had to get rid of her before she tried any more of her tricks.

About the Book

lips like ice final cover 750 (1)Title: Lips Like Ice

Author: Peggy Barnett

Genre: Science-Fiction, Erotica

He calls himself the Prince. He is humanoid but not human–fascinating, sensual, at the cusp of maturity, and accustomed to getting what he wants. And Lydia has awoken in his world to find that she has been given to him–as a pet, a plaything, and, if he so desires, a lover.

But the Prince lives in a world where birth order dictates gender, and in declaring himself male he has thrown tradition back into the face of his father, the King, a very, very dangerous creature to cross.

As Lydia comes to realize that the Prince is as much a prisoner to his culture’s ways as she is, her resentment slowly unfurls into pity, understanding, curiosity, and a deep, unpredictable, consuming lust. She wants him too, on her own terms. But in a world fraught with hidden dangers, her terms are not open for discussion, not when their thirst for one another could doom them both. In a court where monarchs are obeyed and sexual hierarchies are strict, one wrong move could end the Prince for ever… and what would happen to Lydia then?

Author Bio

Hello lovers of apocalyptic fiction!

I devour the same books I enjoy writing: science fiction, but especially anything apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic or dystopian. I love stories about regular people being put into extra ordinary circumstances, and having to rely on their own cunning and that of others to survive.

Stone Age & DESOLATION are that kind of story. They’re fast moving, have some regular and amazing characters who must make life changing decisions, all while the world is experiencing an apocalypse unlike anything imagined.

When not writing fiction, my wife and I split time between Tucson, Arizona and the sunny beaches of Mexico. I also write for a few blogs, and I still write articles to assist small business owners for one of the companies I founded, SmallBiZ.com.

Will’s arm flexed as he pulled the trigger, the shoot flew through the air string at the enemy. His men quickly jumped back to man the cannons opening fire as soon as they could. The enemy ships opened fire again this time they were intent on destroying Will’s ship. Will kept offsetting the enemy shots to keep his ship safe but he was approaching his limit. The hits he took had done a lot more damage to his body than he thought, and only being able to use one hand was pushing him to his limit even faster. However, Just as he reached his limit the shots stopped and, it went quite every enemy ship had ceased their fire. Something big was going to happen Will knew what was coming and he knew he couldn’t handle it in his current state, even if both of his hands were perfect, if they were planning what he thought he wouldn’t be fast enough.

“Please stop this now you still have a chance to walk away with what little loses you have now!” Will yelled, his voiced echoing so every ship could hear. The pirates looked on laughing mocking him as they took aim. “Ready men, on my mark… FIRE!” The pirate captain’s voiced echoed out. Will closed his eyes as the loud crackling explosion of all the pirate ships firing at once filled the air. Every eye aboard Will’s ship was closed as they awaited their deaths.

Will spoke two words. “Star-core activate.” Will’s eyes glowed a bright yellow; it was as if the sun itself burned within them. His Body healed in an instant, he could see everything around him slowing almost to a stop. He didn’t waste even a moment he took aim and fired.

Book Excerpt Earth Cell Book Tour

The Book Gazette is sharing an excerpt from the book tour for science-fiction “Earth Cell”. We hope you enjoy the excerpt.

Book Excerpt

As I worked at the knots in her shoulders, she sat up. The pressure on my sides diminished. Her hands came to my shoulders, and her claws poked through the fur at her knuckles. “Ah, such strong hands,” she whispered.

“Perhaps if I sat up, I could pleasure you more, master,” I heard myself say. Flares of pain detonated in my mouth, but did not sway me from my desire to give Saawth the delight she deserved. After all, she’d spent a few hard days on Earth.

She adjusted herself, and I rose higher on the cushions so I could work my fingers into the tense muscles at her neck. Her claws slid further from their sheaths. I became aware of her fur tickling my bare skin and a growing heat in my groin. I saw my touch gave her pleasure. Her growing arousal told me she wanted more. That fed my hunger to give more.

I had an inkling of what was coming and found it didn’t bother me. If it gave her pleasure to claw me, then I would give my flesh. Without hesitation.

“Yes, such strong hands,” she said again, eyes closing.

As I dug harder at her shoulders, her claws brushed lightly down my upper arms, across my bare chest. I leaned closer, working my fingers around the back of her neck. Unexpectedly, she arched her back, her neck rising beyond my reach. My hands came to rest on the dense fur of her chest.

“Perhaps the master would prefer to be in her sleep bowl,” I said.

“Yes,” Saawth growled. “But not just yet.” She leaned back down, eyes still closed. Of their own accord, my hands returned to the back of her neck. “There. Yes.”

As I squeezed the tension from her muscles, her claws scratched lightly at my skin. My thoughts about them faded as I focused on how I could deepen the pleasure she deserved. The sunlight continued to warm me, and seemed to leave Saawth feeling even more relaxed. A light breeze floated into the room, tugging at the longer strands of her splendid coat and cooling the sweat across my brow.

Saawth raised her chin and sighed. Her claws pushed harder as they traveled over my upper body. Each left a distinct trail of pain, but so far drew no blood.

If it gives her pleasure, I thought.

I worked my fingers even harder, my thumbs rising up to massage the soft underside of her chin. The tip of her pink tongue poked from between her lips. She shook beneath my efforts. Her claws paused momentarily. I braced myself for what was coming while trying hard to massage away the knots in her muscles.

“Yes…” she growled.

When it came, the first slash hurt.

The second did not.

Nor the third…

Giveaway details can be found at the bottom of the post. Giveaway is for a $25 Amazon Gift card, 3 paperback copies of “Atlas” and 3 ebook copies.

Book Excerpt

I remember standing there on the beach the first day, when the bay door opened and the mech stepped outside. This was the first time I’d seen a real life, modern ATLAS 5 outside of the netvids, or the simulator. It was a massive version of the ATLAS 1s we’d been porting around the base all this time. Three times the height of an ordinary man and ten times wider, it looked like a robot soldier, with arms, legs and a head. All metal–no cost-saving polycarbonate here. The head was a pinched version of a man’s. A red visor with two yellow glows made up the eye area. There was a red circle at the center of the bulky chest where the atomic core resided, beneath the cockpit. That’s right, no magnesium-ion batteries in this puppy.

I could see my reflection on that burnished armor, and the reflections of the trainees around me, and I saw the awe in all our eyes. I yearned to control it and feel its power.

Our ATLAS Warfare instructor came forward. “Welcome to the Atomic-powered, all-Terrain Land Assault Supersuit you’ve been dreaming about, children. Otherwise known as the ATLAS. Let me introduce you. Over a thousand hydraulically actuated joints with closed-loop positions and force control. On-board hydraulic pump and thermal management. Crash protection. Jump jets. Head-mounted sensor package with built in LIDAR, night vision, flash vision, zoom and other augmented reality perception boosts that smoothly integrate with your Implants. Modular wrists accept 3rd party hands–when you’re looking to throw a party put a couple of serpents in one and a twin M2A1 in the other.” He grinned widely. “The ATLAS 5. The war machine of your dreams. And your enemy’s nightmares.”
